Endrick made a remarkable debut for Real Madrid, scoring just 10 minutes after stepping onto the pitch. The Brazilian teenager replaced Kylian Mbappé late in the match and netted a goal during stoppage time, securing a 3-0 victory over Valladolid on Sunday.
At 18 years and 35 days old, Endrick became the youngest foreign player to score for Madrid in the Spanish league, surpassing the previous record held by Raphael Varane, who was 18 years and 152 days old when he scored in 2011.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Endrick’s performance, stating, “He’s looking very good and has a lot of potential. He has shown his quality very quickly with his control, and he’s got a very powerful shot. He’s a center forward and very dangerous in tight spaces.”
This match marked Madrid’s first league win of the season after they opened with a 1-1 draw against Mallorca. Mbappé, who made his debut at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, had previously scored in Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta but had yet to find the net in the first two league matches.
Federico Valverde opened the scoring for Madrid in the 50th minute, and Brahim Díaz extended the lead in the 88th minute. Endrick capped off the scoring with a low shot into the near corner six minutes into stoppage time after maneuvering past a defender.
“He deserves it,” Valverde said of Endrick. “He has to keep working; he still has a long way to go with this club, but he should keep putting in the effort because he deserves it.”
Endrick was only 16 when he transferred to Madrid from Brazilian club Palmeiras for over €40 million (approximately $45 million), plus additional fees. He remained with Palmeiras until turning 18 and joining Madrid this season. The club has previously made similar investments in Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, both of whom are now regular starters.
Endrick had been an unused substitute in Madrid’s first two matches of the season, including the UEFA Super Cup and the league match against Mallorca.
In other La Liga action, Barcelona secured a 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao for their second consecutive win, while Celta Vigo also achieved two wins by defeating Valencia 3-1. Atlético Madrid earned their first league victory of the season by beating Girona 3-0 at home, with goals from Antoine Griezmann, Marcos Llorente, and Koke Resurrección.
