A disturbing surveillance video released on Friday depicts Sean “Diddy” Combs physically attacking his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, corroborating allegations she made in a lawsuit settled late last year.
Combs faces multiple civil lawsuits portraying him as a violent sexual predator who allegedly used alcohol and drugs to control his victims. His residences were raided earlier this year by federal agents.
The footage from 2016, obtained and published by CNN, captures the rap mogul hitting, dragging, and kicking the singer, who accused Combs of subjecting her to over a decade of coercion through physical force and drugs, as well as an alleged rape in 2018.
In the video, Ventura exits a hotel room followed by Combs, seemingly clad only in a towel, who pursues her and assaults her after she is thrown to the ground.
Douglas Wigdor, Ventura’s lawyer, released a statement expressing admiration for Ventura’s bravery in bringing these actions to light. Ventura filed a federal lawsuit against Combs last autumn, a case that was settled out of court. However, it was succeeded by a series of similar sexual assault allegations against the hip-hop artist.
Ventura first crossed paths with Combs when she was 19 and he was 37, after which he signed her to his label, and they commenced a romantic relationship.
Combs vehemently denies all accusations. His attorney did not immediately respond to AFP’s request for comment.
In March, armed agents conducted raids on Combs’ lavish properties in Miami and Los Angeles, suggesting a potential investigation into the rapper.
