Thursday was not such a good day for some residents of Ilasamaja in Lagos.
A three-storey building under construction collapsed, killing one person. Seventeen others were rescued from the rubble, but one of the survivors had his leg chopped off.
Officials of the Lagos State and National Emergency Management Agencies, State building control agency, Lagos State Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross and security operatives were on hand for the search and rescue operations.
The building which was said to have been marked for demolition collapsed around 3pm on Thursday and more than sixteen people trapped in the rubble were rescued and taken to Isolo General hospital for medical attention.
