Baba Ijesha Convicted And Sentenced To Sixteen Years In Jail

Nollywood actor Olarenwaju Omiyinka James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a fourteen-year-old, and as a result he has been sentenced to sixteen years in jail.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court in a two-hour judgement yesterday convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault of a minor between 2013 and 2014 and an attempted sexual assault.

The judge however discharged and acquitted him of count one and count six, which were sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration, saying that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty of all the charges against him.

Baba Ijesha was found guilty of four of six offences; two charges attract five years while the remaining two attract three years.

His sixteen-year jail term will run concurrently; this means that the disgraced movie actor will spend five years behind bars.

If you would recall, in April 2021, Baba Ijesha was arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police Command, following a complaint by fellow actor and comedienne Princess.

The statement by the Police at the time stated that Baba Ijesha was arrested for defilement, adding that he sexually assaulted Princess’ foster child in her home, and that he had been at it since the child was seven years old.
