Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé, is finalizing her divorce from Richard Lawson with a significant settlement.
According to In Touch, Knowles, who filed for divorce last year, has agreed to pay Lawson $300,000 as part of their settlement terms.
Neither party will receive spousal support, and the settlement includes a non-disparagement clause, preventing both Knowles and Lawson from speaking negatively about each other, their children, or their children’s spouses.
Lawson was Knowles’ second husband, and they married in 2015. Knowles filed for divorce in July 2023, citing irreconcilable differences, and the couple does not share any children. At that time, she requested the court to terminate Lawson’s right to spousal support and to restore her legal name to Celestine Knowles, which she had changed to Celestine Lawson upon marriage.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé is enjoying positive developments in her career, including her songs being covered by a group of prominent Black country artists. As part of Apple Music’s ‘Nashville Sessions’ series, the album Beyoncé Covered features artists like Brittney Spencer, Tanner Adell, Joy Oladokun, and BRELAND performing hits such as “1+1,” “Drunk in Love,” and “Halo.”
Tiera Kennedy, one of the featured artists, remarked, “Beyoncé has opened a door that’s going to be really hard to close.” Additionally, Beyoncé’s country project, Cowboy Carter, has achieved major success since its release in March, debuting at the top of the Billboard 200 with 407,000 equivalent album units in its first week. This marked the biggest sales week of 2024 until it was surpassed by Taylor Swift’s latest album. Twenty-three of the album’s 27 tracks also made it onto the Billboard Hot 100, bringing Beyoncé’s total to 106 entries, making her one of only three women to surpass 100 entries since the chart’s inception in 1958.
