Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has entered a new business venture by launching her first American whisky, SirDavis.
Announced on Tuesday, this unique spirit results from her collaboration with Moët Hennessy and highlights her deep connection to her Texas roots.
Beyoncé created SirDavis as a tribute to her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who was a moonshiner during Prohibition. She described the whisky as “a delicious American whisky that respects tradition while inviting people to experience something new.” Learning about her great-grandfather’s history intensified her passion for whisky and motivated her to build a new legacy.
Craftsmanship and Texan Roots
SirDavis, crafted in Texas, stands as the first Moët Hennessy spirits brand fully developed in the U.S. The whisky is finished, blended, and bottled in her home state, underscoring its strong connection to her Texan heritage. The bottle’s design, featuring tall, ribbed glass with a black medallion and a bronzed horse, reflects Beyoncé’s artistic vision, symbolizing strength and her Texan roots.
To create SirDavis’ distinct flavor, Moët Hennessy enlisted Dr. Bill Lumsden, a renowned Master Distiller known for his work with Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. The whisky’s mash bill, with 51% rye and 49% malted barley, combines traditional whisky-making techniques to achieve an elegant texture reminiscent of Japanese and Scotch whiskies while delivering the bold flavors typical of American rye.
Recognition and Availability
Before its official launch, SirDavis competed in prestigious spirits competitions, where it excelled, winning Best In Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards and earning a Gold Medal with a 95-point score at the New York International Spirits Competition.
Fans can purchase SirDavis for $89 a bottle, with pre-orders starting in September on the official website. The whisky will be available nationwide, in select airports, and in stores in London, Paris, and Tokyo.
