England, France, and the Netherlands secured spots in the Euro 2024 knockout stage on Monday following Albania’s 1-0 loss to Group B leaders Spain, courtesy of an early Ferran Torres goal in Duesseldorf.
England has progressed from Group C, while France and the Netherlands have advanced from Group D, ensuring at least three of the best third-placed teams also qualify.
All three teams will play their final group matches on Tuesday, aiming for a top-two finish to secure a favorable draw for the round of 16.
England currently leads Group C with four points ahead of their match against Slovenia in Cologne. A victory would guarantee Gareth Southgate’s side top spot in the group, while a draw would suffice if Denmark fails to defeat Serbia in the group’s other fixture.
France and the Netherlands, both on four points in Group D after a goalless draw between them, will face Poland and Austria, respectively. Austria, needing a win against the Dutch to advance with six points, adds further intrigue to the final group stage matches.
Should France and the Netherlands both win or draw on Tuesday, their final rankings will be determined by overall goal difference, goals scored, disciplinary records, and their standings from the European qualifiers.
