Apple Introduces New iPhone Feature to Combat Car Sickness with Animated Dots

Apple unveils an innovative solution to alleviate motion sickness with the introduction of Vehicle Motion Cues for iPhones and iPads. This feature aims to address the sensory conflict experienced by individuals when their visual perception conflicts with their physical movement during travel.

By displaying animated dots on the edges of the screen, Vehicle Motion Cues represent changes in the vehicle’s movement. For instance, when turning left, the dots move right, and vice versa. Similarly, acceleration and deceleration are depicted by dots moving up and down the screen, respectively.

Although some may find it distracting, Apple offers flexibility by allowing users to toggle the feature on or off via the Control Center. Additionally, CarPlay receives updates including Voice Control for enhanced accessibility, Sound Recognition to alert users to car horns or sirens, and Color Filters to improve interface readability for those with color vision deficiencies.
