Pop icon Beyoncé has revealed the tracklist for her upcoming album, “Cowboy Carter,” set to drop on Thursday. The album marks a departure into country music for the superstar, who assures fans that despite its country influences, it’s unmistakably a Beyoncé album.
Announced on Beyoncé’s Instagram account, the tracklist includes a cover of Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene” and a collaboration with country legend Willie Nelson on a track titled “Smoke Hour.” The inclusion of “Jolene” pays homage to the iconic song, previously covered by notable artists like Olivia Newton-John, The White Stripes, and Miley Cyrus.
Also featured on the album are Beyoncé’s recent singles “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the latter of which made history by making Beyoncé the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The success of “Texas Hold ‘Em” added to Beyoncé’s impressive list of achievements, including nine number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Despite the country influences, Beyoncé emphasizes that “Cowboy Carter” is not a traditional country album but rather a continuation of her artistic evolution, following the acclaimed “Renaissance” album. With this new release, Beyoncé hints at the possibility of an ongoing series or trilogy, aptly named “Act II.”
