In a recent interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, the accomplished EGOT winner, Jennifer Hudson, subtly acknowledged her relationship with the rapper “I Used To Love H.E.R.,” Common, expressing contentment with her current romantic situation. Co-host Nate Burleson playfully suggested they were “boo’ed up,” prompting Hudson to clarify that it’s “a bit more sophisticated than boo’ed up” and emphatically stated, “It’s definitely not an entanglement,” referencing Jada Pinkett Smith’s famous phrase.
Speculation about the duo’s romantic involvement has circulated since last year when reports surfaced about their closeness on the set of their upcoming thriller, Breathe. In August, when questioned about the rumors, Hudson neither confirmed nor denied them, responding with a simple “thank you” to compliments about their compatibility.
Addressing the possibility of a musical collaboration, Hudson coyly acknowledged being recently spotted on vacation with Common but remained elusive about the nature of their relationship. When directly asked to clear up the rumors, she playfully commented, “Rumors say a lot of things. But he’s a beautiful man. I will give you that. That’s for certain.”
Earlier reports from an insider suggested that their connection had taken a “romantic turn” during filming in Philadelphia, with the pair gravitating towards each other when not on set. Despite Common’s reputation as a flirt, Hudson reportedly views their interactions as harmless and enjoyable.
The speculation gained momentum when Common picked up Hudson from her talk show filming in Burbank, California, and the two were seen comfortably interacting outside the show lot. Hudson, who ended her engagement to David Otunga in 2017, and Common, who parted ways with Tiffany Haddish in 2021, continue to keep fans intrigued about the nature of their relationship.
