Empawa Africa boss and Nigerian artiste Mr. Eazi has taken to social media to express his disappointment while also accusing Latino music megastar Bad Bunny of copyright infringement.
Mr. Eazi berated the rapper for an unauthorized sample of his signee, Joeboy’s song without going through the standard clearance process with the label and the artiste.
He tweeted, “Yo @sanbenito you need to tell your lawyers to stop messing around and clear that Joeboy rip-off on your album.”
Mr. Eazi then proceeded to add a YouTube link to the song in question in another tweet in an effort to eliminate any doubt as to his claim.
The Joeboy’s record sampled is titled ‘Empty My Pocket’ which was released in 2021 under Lakizo Entertainment and produced by Dera Boy.
Meanwhile, Bad Bunny’s song is titled ‘Enseñame a Bailar’ which was released in 2022 and even features a sample of Joeboy’s vocal at the end of the track. Let’s listen to both songs and you be the judge.
Just so you know, the song by Bad Bunny in question is off his album ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ which was released in 2022 and recently won the Best Música Urbana Album category at the recently held 65th Grammy Awards.
Mr. Eazi on the other hand didn’t just restrict his complaints to Twitter as he took to LinkedIn to further expatiate on the copyright infringement.
In the post on his LinkedIn page, Mr. Eazi complained about the disregard from Bad Bunny and his label over their failure to clear the song. He further shared that he found their actions to be disrespectful and condescending.
As of now, Bad Bunny’s camp is yet to reply to the plagiarism accusation and copyright infringement.
