Canadian music star, Tory Lanez has been hit with a third felony charge as he awaits opening statements in his trial over claims he shot rapper, Megan Thee Stallion in her feet more than two years ago.
According to reports, the court records show the new charge against Tory is felony negligent discharge of a firearm, which comes on top of his previous two charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm.
Court documents state, “In the commission and attempted commission of the above offences, Tory Lanez personally inflicted great bodily injury upon Megan Thee Stallion.
His actions are described as involving great violence, great bodily harm, the threat of great bodily harm, and other acts disclosing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness, and callousness.”
Just so you know, this new charge carries a possible six-year prison sentence and qualifies as a deportable crime since he is a Canadian citizen.
If convicted on all counts, Tory is still facing the same maximum sentence of twenty-two years and eight months.
The new charge doesn’t add to the exposure because it relates to the same alleged conduct, so any related sentence would run concurrently.
Tory Lanez previously pleaded not guilty to one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Jury selection has begun, and opening statements are set for next week.
