DISCLOSED : Perfect Guide To Hacking Music Promotion

David Adeyemi, often known as “Don of Music PR,” has years of experience working in a variety of industries while keeping his expertise in music PR. He has a book titled “Music Production: A Guide To Hacking It.” He shared with the viewers on how to hack music production on the TV show “Wake-up Nigeria.”
Adeyemi describes himself in the music space as first a Field Rapper. He further mentioned that if you are not good on the screen then you can do better behind the scenes as a producer, director or even an author and this ideology is what led him to writing a book about the Music industry and how it can be hacked.
What exactly is Music Promotion in a General sense? and why it led you to writing the book?
The Music PR Consultant, David Adeyemi is a graduate of mass communication, he also holds a Pre-Degree in Public Relations, and has always had interest in entertainment most especially Music. He states that his book came from a place of anger.
What are Nigerian musicians not getting right?
Giving his response to this question, David said “the music space in Nigeria is being saturated with a lot of money and a lot of numbers.” He further mentioned that its not all about the numbers, it is about identifying your fans and selling your product to them. “if you don’t target your product to your fans, you are miss-targeting.
While describing his book, he claims that the most common response from readers is that some of them weren’t aware that they needed it. He said that most artist has and is still operating on Autopilot. His book he has been able to shape people’s perception of what music PR is, what promotion should be, how you are branding and promoting your music, where you are promoting your music.
Who would you say has the exemplary format for music promotion?
According to him and what he has pen down in his book, he said there are three case studies: Yemi Alade, Blackbonez, and Adekunle Gold. He said that these artists have really smooth transitioning into their branding, from album to albums.
