Burna Boy & Tems Score Grammy Nominations

The Recording Academy has announced its nominees for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards and our Nigerian acts are fully recognized.

 

Burna Boy & Tems Score Grammy Nominations

Burna Boy got two nominations; one for his song ‘Last Last’ in the Best Global Music Performance category and another for his album ‘Love, Damini’ in the Best Global Music Album category.

In that category, Burna Boy got nominated alongside Berklee Indian Ensemble with the album, ‘Shuruaat’, Angelique Kidjo and Ibrahim Maalouf with ‘Queen of Sheba’, Anoushka Shankar, Metropole Orkest, and Jules Buckley featuring Manu Delago with ‘Between Us … (Live)’, and Masa Takumi with ‘Sakura’.

Tems was also nominated in the ‘Best Rap Song’ and ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ categories for her feature on American Rappers’ Future‘s song titled ‘Wait for U’, which also has Drake as a collaborator.

And not forgetting Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ album where she was featured, which also got nominated in the Album of the Year category.

Beyoncé however got the highest nomination with a total of nine nods, while Kendrick Lamar followed with eight nominations.

Adele and Brandi Carlile grabbed seven nominations each, while Future, Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, The Dream, and Randy Merrill each earned six nominations.

Jay-Z, who picked up five nominations, is now tied with Beyoncé for the most nominated artists in the history of Grammy, as they have both been nominated eighty-eight times in total.

The 65th edition of the Grammy Awards is scheduled to take place on the 5th of February 2023 in Los Angeles, USA.
