It’s Wednesday again, and today we will be crushing on the beautiful, Simone Arianne Biles.
Simone is an American artistic gymnast. With a combined total of thirty Olympic and World Championship medals, she is the most decorated American gymnast and the world’s third most decorated gymnast, behind Belarus’ Vitaly Scherbo and Russia’s Larisa Latynina known for performing difficult skills at a high level of execution.
Her 2018 routine on vault and her 2019 routine on floor exercise are the most difficult ever performed in women’s artistic gymnastics. As of 2019, she is the sole gymnast to have competed in four skills valued at H or higher in the 2017-2020 Code of Points on floor exercise.
Indisputable fact? Simone Biles is the greatest gymnast of all time. She has racked up an astonishing six national all-around titles and a record twenty-five world championship medals.
While all of Simone’s accomplishments are legendary, we’ve managed to dig up a few fun tidbits you might not know about the 4’8″ superstar. And fact: they will make you love her even more.
Now, here are five things you probably did not about one of the most decorated female gymnasts in American history.
- 1. Did you know that her birth mother Shanon Biles was unable to care for her and her siblings, due to substance abuse? So, she alongside her siblings was taken care of by their grandparents.
- She is tiny. Simone Biles stands at just 4’8″, two inches shorter than actor Danny DeVito. And she has no problem bragging about her height (or lack of).
- She was home-schooled throughout high school. Once she started being homeschooled, she wound up training for up to thirty-two hours a week instead of twenty. Looks like those extra hours of hard work paid off.
- Gymnastics is just one part of her life, according to her, she is having as much fun with it as possible, and at some point, she will have to go get a real job.
- While Simone is an incredible athlete, she gets scared of bees!
Now, here are just a few of the many reasons why we love Simone Biles.
