Ochuko Prudence was on the show this morning to share more parenting tips. Find out more!
Parenting is the process of raising children and providing them with protection and care in order to ensure their healthy development into adulthood.
Parenting promotes and supports the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood.
Parenting refers to the intricacies of raising a child and not exclusively for a biological relationship.
How do we build focus in our kids?
Parents who are very rigid and boxed up, there are so academic driven and are actually doing it wrongly and they need to switch. They are doing those children a de-service because every child requires to build executive functions skills before they are twelve.
Executive functioning skills facilitate the behaviours required to plan and achieve goals.
The fundamental skills related to executive function include proficiency in adaptable thinking, planning, self-monitoring, self-control, working memory, time management, and organization and there are developed sub-consciously.
There are remedial actions that can be done to save this kind of situation.
- Games like Jenga, MindTrap, anime logic
- Hydration – ensure to be hydrated
- Diet – Not eating a balanced diet
- Lack of sleep – ensure to rest well
- Create checklists, and estimate how long each task will take.
- Break long assignments into chunks, and assign time frames for completing each one.
- Use calendars to keep track of long-term assignments, due dates, chores, and activities.
- Write the due date on the top of each assignment.
