Chef Chizoba shows us another process of making plantain more attractive and sweet as she compliments it with various ingredients.
A plantain is actually a type of banana, but with a different flavour and culinary use.
Like bananas, they are originally from Southeast Asia, but they’re grown all over the world today.
They tend to be larger in size than bananas and have thicker skin. Plantains are also starchier and lower in sugar than bananas.
Plantains are a low-fat source of starchy carbohydrates and fibre. They also contain good amounts of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C and potassium.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, 1 cup of baked yellow plantain contains: 239 calories.
