Tyrese Gibson’s divorce from estranged wife Samantha Lee Gibson is still ongoing and it has taken a different turn.
According to reports, the singer was in court earlier this week for a divorce hearing, where he outlined that he does not want to pay Samantha monthly spousal support, and he is requesting that their prenuptial agreement be enforced.
The actor/singer is requesting joint physical and legal custody of their three-year-old daughter, Soraya Gibson, as well as the final say on non-medical emergencies for the child, while also claiming that Samantha’s request for twenty thousand dollars in monthly child support, was unreasonably high.
Tyrese also wants to hang on to a 2016 Range Rover, while offering to let Samantha walk away with a less luxurious 2017 Land Rover Discovery.
Just so you know, Samantha filed for divorce from the six-time Grammy nominee in September 2020, claiming that he, Tyrese had locked her out of the house, an accusation he denied.
Tyrese on the other hand also pointed to ‘being raised in broken homes with no example of what being a husband or father is as a contributor to the demise of his second marriage, claiming black families and marriages are under attack at the time.
Tyrese said in a separate statement that he and Samantha, who he met in 2015 and secretly tied the knot with on Valentine’s Day in 2017 will remain the best of friends and strong co-parents.
This isn’t Tyrese’s first time going through a public custody battle as he also has joint custody of his fifteen-year-old daughter, Shayla Somer Gibson, from his two-year marriage to Norma Mitchell, which ended in 2009.
Since his divorce from Samantha, Tyrese has had an off-and-on romance with twenty-five-year-old influencer Zelie Timothy.
