Aquaman star Jason Momoa shocked DC fans when he announced that Ben Affleck would return as Batman/Bruce Wayne in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
This was revealed on Instagram after fans on a Warner Bros. bus tour apparently caught wind that Affleck was there filming with him.
Jason Momoa shared several photos of himself and a well-shaven Ben Affleck, alongside a video of the fans on the tour bus, writing, “REUNITED Bruce and Arthur. Love u and miss u Ben.
“WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. Busted on set, all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha J.”
Just so you know, Ben Affleck previously announced his retirement as Batman in 2019, and he has been open about the personal and professional strife that came with the role.
So, it came as a surprise when it was revealed that he was suiting up once more for The Flash, a movie that will also feature Michael Keaton as Batman.
So with this move, Ben Affleck is now set to make another DC Extended Universe appearance as Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which according to reports is due to continuity issues arising from the release date reshuffling of the DC Films’ roster.
The Flash and Aquaman 2 were both slated to hit the screen this year but were delayed to 2023. While an exact reason has yet to be revealed, the Warner Bros.
The Discovery merger and the involvement of the problematic stars Ezra Miller and Amber Heard in the movies are touted as potential reasons behind the postponement.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is now scheduled to hit cinemas on March 17, 2023, three months before The Flash, which will debut on June 23rd, 2023.
