Arsene Wenger set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season

Arsene Wenger who has spent almost 22 years as Arsenal’s manager is to quit managing the team at the end of this season.

Confirming his decision to quit, The 68-year-old frenchman who took charge of the club in 1996 said he feels this is the right time to “step down”.

In a statement published on the club’s official website, he said:

“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season,” said Wenger. “I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years. I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.

“I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special. I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club. My love and support for ever.”

Wenger has won three Premier League titles, an all-time record seven FA Cups, two doubles, reached the 2006 European Cup final and went the entire 2003-04 Premier League season undefeated.

Arsenal, has indicated that they are currently in works to get a new manager an will make appiontment as soon as possible.
