TVC E. Nigerian oil tanker drivers have started an indefinite strike from today, the 3rd of April over low wages and poor roads, according to a labor union official.
TVC News went to tank farms in Apapa, in Lagos and found many of the drivers. Our corespondent reports 100% compliance to teh strike directive.
The oil tanker drivers from Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), one of Nigeria’s two major oil laborers’ unions, have not set an end date for their strike, according to Cogent Ojobo, a regional chairman for NUPENG.
The labour leader says they are protesting because of poor remuneration, bad roads that wear out their vehicles fast and other matters
Ojobo adds that NUPENG had been in talks with Nigeria’s government since last year but the last week’s deadline for an agreement was not met.
