The Osun state Police command has declared total war on cannabis farmers and smokers in the state.
TVC News’ Ibrahim Alege who has been following this story reports that the police destroyed hectares of cannabis farm in the state.
The cannabis farm is located at Agbongbon village in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun state.
Cannabis is cultivated in large quantity and the farmers work with syndicates, including distributors and transporters in the area.
Some arrests have been made.
After the first day of the destruction of some portions of the farm, some of the cannabis farmers again mobilised and harvested the ones already sprayed with herbicide, not minding the danger it portends to potential consumers.
On the second day, additional 40 youth volunteers joined the police to carry out the task of destroying the vast farm.
The Osun state police command says the war against cannabis is total.
