TVC E. Senator Godswill Akpabio was presented with a brand new super eagles jersey by team captain, Mikel Obi, on Friday the super eagles dressing room. This was before their match on Saturday where they defeated Algeria 3-1.
Following their victory yesterday,November 12th, the former governor congratulated the eagles and also showed appreciation for the jersey gift.

I congratulate the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles on their uncommon victory over the Fox of Algeria, adjudged by FIFA as the best team in Africa. On the eve of the match along with Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogbe, we had met with the team and assured them of our support and the support of Nigerians for them to qualify for the World Cup. The Captain of the team, John Obi Mikel presented me with the new team jersey. I’m proud of the performance of the Boys, the technical crew and the supporters who thronged the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to cheers the team. Congratulations Nigeria.
