TVC E. Mayor of Dover known as Robin R. Christiansen has been filmed snorting a white substance in a bathroom in a video which was uploaded to YouTube yesterday. It showed Cllr Neil Rix using a £20 note to ingest a substance off a toilet cistern.
A male companion could be heard encouraging him in the clip. He said: ‘Yeah, go on, you do the big one.’
Cllr Rix replied: ‘Are you sure?’ The man added: ‘Yeah, go on.’
The Mayor of the Kent coastal town claimed he was the victim of blackmail plot after the video was released. ‘The video forms part of a police investigation into the fact I am being blackmailed,’ he said. ‘It did not happen recently. I was set up, pushed into it and coerced.
‘Someone had put drugs into my beer and I did not know I was being filmed.’
The video, which lasts for one minute and seven seconds, was apparently filmed before Cllr Rix was elected mayor in April.
He has been an elected member of Dover Town Council for nine years and also runs a scaffolding firm.
Dover Town Council has been contacted for a comment.
