Bank Manager suicide: ‘We begged him not to shoot, yet’ – Source

TVC E. A manager with First City Monument Bank, Olisa Nwakoby, has shot himself to death in the presence of his priest and relatives. A close friend revealed that he spoke with his mother and everybody was begging him not to take his life. They went as far as calling his cousin that he respects and listens to, while she was begging too, he turned deaf ears instead, shot in the air and then shot himself in the head, the cousin present at the scene immediately administered CPR on him but it was too late.

It was reported that, the father of a 10 year old girl decided to kill himself over a toxic loan of N350 million he approved for an unnamed customer.
The beneficiary had been unable to pay, making the bank resort to Nwakoby to pay both the principal and interest on the money.
Nwakoby, a graduate of Abia State University, was said to be scared of soiling his family name in case the story goes awry.

It was gathered that his late father, Chief Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakoby was a former chairman of First Bank of Niger Plc, a successful lawyer , politician and a highly respected community leader before his death. Fear over his integrity and the family name, which could be dented if his bank commences action against him over the loan, was too much for the vibrant banker to bear prompting him to shoot himself.
