The late literary icon, Elechi Amadi meant so much to millions of people the world over because of his literary works and contributions to education.
Since his passage,condolences have continued to pour in from many who are convinced that the world has lost a rare literary gem.

The late captain Elechi Amadi passed on in a private hospital in Port Harcourt on June the 29th this year after a brief illness.
He was transferred to the specialist cardiologist facility five days earlier following complaints of general body weakness even though he was never known to have history of any protracted illness.
The renowned educator,writer and soldier was born on May the 10th, 1934 in Aluu,a community in Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers State, where he also lived out his adult life.
He died at the age of 82 after touching millions of lives the world over either through his literary works or physical contact.
His children and relatives say his burial would be a celebration of life because the author of the trilogy..The concubine,The great Ponds and The slave… lived life to its fullest.
To them,the baton has now been passed on to those he left behind to sustain his legacies especially in expanding the frontiers of knowledge through education.
