Judge grants Omatseye N500,000 post-conviction bail

The Former Director general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency,  has been granted bail to the sum of five hundred thousand naira or about 2,500 dollars; two sureties who are civil servants not less than level sixteen and a deposit of his passport.

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of a federal high court in Lagos, granted the defendant bail on the singular consideration of being a parent of an ailing child.

The defendant was on may the 20th sentenced to 5years in prison over a 1.5 billion naira contract scam. That’s about 7.5 million dollars.
