Fast rising American singer, Demi Lovato, has revealed her surprise at living above the 21 years mark, considering her chronic eating disorder.
Lovato revealed this in an interview with American Way magazine, to whom she explained her challenges as a bulimic person.
She said, “Even though I was 2 or 3 years old, being around somebody who was 80 pounds and had an active eating disorder,” Lovato explained, “it’s hard not to grow up like that.”
“My body-image awareness started way before that, but I do attribute a little of my insecurities to being on stage and judged for my beauty,”
“When I was gaining weight because I was becoming a woman, I would look at those images and say to myself, ‘Wait, this is not what I look like. I’m getting fat on the hips and on my butt.'”
“Once I started eating again, the other issues got worse. It was like Whack-a-Mole,”
“I lived fast and I was going to die young. I didn’t think I would make it to 21.”
The singer, who is now 23, has enjoyed a good career so far.
She released her debut album, ‘Don’t Forget’, in September 2008. The album debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200, a very impressive feat at the time.
