TVC E. There is currently heavy security presence in Rivers State as the re-run election is going on.
Security personnel have been deployed to different areas of the state to ensure that voters cast their votes successfully without any disruption.
The Re-run election will see key political figures in the state slog it out for a place at the National Assembly, House of Representatives and state assembly respectively.
Prior to the re-run elections, tension has been at its highest, but security has been heightened as the Nigerian Army lost two of its men in a shootout with hoodlums in Abonemma area of the state on Thursday, March 17. However, all appears set for the exercise as all sensitive materials for the polls have been delivered at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt.
Sorting and distribution of voting materials have been done at the different senatorial zones and constituencies in all 23 local government areas in the state and the INEC has recruited the services of 24,930 adhoc staff, 379 collation officers and 37 returning officers for the re-run elections.
