The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has told a High Court in Abuja, that former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki has refused to appear in court for trial.
Dasuki has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since December, but refused to appear in court.
On Wednesday, his two lead counsel, Mr Joseph Daudu and Ahmed Raji also failed to appear in court.
Prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs said Daudu had informed him of an application for stay of proceedings of the trial ,which was filed before the Court of Appeal on behalf of the former NSA.
He maintained that the law never stopped an accused person in detention from facing trial and accused Dasuki’s lawyers of deliberately frustrating the trial.
Counsel who represented Dasuki in court, Wale Balogun, debunked the allegation.
Justice Baba Yusuf adjourned the case until April the 6th.
The EFCC is prosecuting Dasuki and others on 19 counts of diversion of N32bn that’s 161 million dollars, meant for arms procurement.
