TVC NEWS: Atletico Madrid travel to Barcelona on Saturday (January 30) for a match which could determine the Spanish league title.
The Catalan club top the league only on goal difference from coach Diego Simeone’s Atletico, although defending champions Barca have a game in hand, with Real Madrid trailing four points behind the top two.
Speaking after a training session in the Spanish capital on Friday (January 29) Simeone said he expects to see a ‘beautiful’ game .
Barcelona’s Luis Enrique and Simeone are highly regarded as coaches but the Argentinian refused to see Saturday’s match as battle of coaches.
“It’s not that I play against him, it’s Atletico against Barcelona and we will try, with the opportunities that arise, to do what I can to get the best results for the team I manage,” he said.
Simeone described his Saturday rivals as one of the best team’s, if not the best, in the world and had praise for the Neymar, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez striking trident.
“The wonderful thing about the three is that they show no envy. They look happy. For people who like soccer it’s marvellous. It’s one of, if not the best, team in the world, and obviously these three guys have given it this identity which attracts attention,” said Simeone.
Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid are at home to Espanyol on Sunday night and the Frenchman will be hoping for a draw in Barcelona to allow his saide to gain ground on the leaders.
