President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the disbursement of funds for the clearing of stranded containers of power equipment and materials at various port terminals, so as to improve power supply to Nigerians.
Minister of power, works and housing disclosed after taking delivery of the 218 containers in Lagos.
These electricity equipment have been abandoned at the port for more than eight years. They ought to have being installed to help stabilise the erratic power supply been experienced in the country.
Minister of power works and housing who was represented by the chief executive office of the transmission company of Nigeria, explained that seventy seven containers had been cleared while 114 will be cleared at other port terminals.
Chairman House of representatives committee on power says this move is part of government’s effort at ensuring that all stranded electricity equipment get accelerated clearance and waivers.
The transmission company of Nigeria says they will ensure that all consignments are moved immediately to site for the commencement of all pending projects.
