President Buhari orders Adeosun to pay civil servants’ arrears

TVC E. President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly ordered Kemi Adeosun, Nigeria’s finance minister to pay outstanding debts to civil servants in the country.

The head of Civil Service of the federation, Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita disclosed that the federal government will make the payments in phases, but that the outstanding bills disclosed that the FG was ready to offset the outstanding bills to Federal Civil Servants in phases.

According to Oyo-Ita, the bills include promotion arrears, repatriation allowance and death benefits, among others which total is about N293 billion.

The permanent secretary who spoke with newsmen said this new development was part of the activities marking the 2016 Civil Service week celebration.

Mrs Adeosun and the office of the Accountant General of the Federation have both been asked to seek ways of making the payments with immediate effect.
