Bugatti, a brand synonymous with luxury and performance, has unveiled its most extreme creation to date – the Bolide.
Designed with precision and purpose, this track-only hyper sports car represents a departure from the norm, pushing the limits of what’s possible on the racetrack.
The Bolide, a testament to Bugatti’s extensive automotive and motorsport lineage, is not just about blistering lap times; it’s about accessibility. Despite its extraordinary performance capabilities, the Bolide remains approachable, even for those without race experience. Therefore, Bugatti’s engineers have crafted a track-only hyper sports car that invites drivers to explore their limits, thanks to state-of-the-art technology and input from legendary Triple Crown winner Andy Wallace.
Cutting-Edge Technologies
Several technologies, deployed for the first time in a Bugatti vehicle, are key to the Bolide’s behavior on the track. For instance, it features an ultra-lightweight advanced monocoque made from the highest quality carbon fiber composite, developed in collaboration with Dallara. Additionally, the car boasts an entirely new seating position that mirrors design from some of the world’s most extreme race cars, imparting unwavering confidence on the asphalt.
The Bolide’s unique Brembo braking system, the result of two years of demanding evaluation, offers stopping power on par with LMh/LMDh and Formula 1 machinery. Extensive simulation and testing on some of the world’s most revered racetracks allowed Bugatti to tune the Bolide’s aerodynamic traits, generating up to three tons of downforce and exceptional grip capabilities with lateral forces peaking at 2.5 G.
Despite its impressive top speed of 380 km/h in low-downforce configuration, the Bolide truly shines in its elasticity. Its relentless surge of power allows it to pull away from a Formula 1 car in certain scenarios. Bugatti’s engineering focus has prioritized cornering, traction, and braking over outright top speed, ensuring the Bolide is perfectly suited to circuit driving.
The Future of Hyper Sports Cars
As Bugatti’s most extreme creation to date, the Bolide represents a bold new approach to hyper sports cars. Now that the test phase has officially concluded, the Molsheim team has shifted focus to series production, with the first customer car expected to be delivered in just a few months.
