MrBeast Surpasses T-Series as Most Subscribed YouTube Channel

MrBeast has surpassed T-Series, claiming the title of the biggest YouTube channel in a long-standing subscriber battle. The Indian music label, known for uploading trailers and music videos, held the record for the largest YouTube channel for five years until it was dethroned on Sunday.

A New Milestone for MrBeast

Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, was already the individual with the largest following on YouTube. At 26, he has now made history on the platform with an impressive 269 million subscribers, overtaking T-Series and solidifying his dominance.

MrBeast has gained fame through nearly 800 videos featuring massive stunts, including giving away private islands, being buried alive, and staging a real-life version of the Netflix hit “Squid Game.” In a post on X, MrBeast celebrated surpassing T-Series’ 266 million subscriber count, claiming he had finally “avenged” YouTube star Felix Kjellberg, known as PewDiePie. In a follow-up post, MrBeast shared that his channel experienced its largest-ever daily spike in subscribers, rising by more than 2 million on Saturday.

T-Series originally set the record in 2019 by overtaking PewDiePie, to which the Swedish YouTuber responded with a music video commenting on the corporate power behind T-Series’ success.

Expanding Influence and Wealth

MrBeast’s achievement extends his influence and wealth on the platform. He operates several other channels focused on gaming, philanthropy, and reaction videos, each boasting tens of millions of subscribers. His channel’s description humorously advises against asking for money, emphasizing that he gives away millions because it makes him happy.

In one video posted in April, a participant won $250,000. In 2022, Forbes estimated MrBeast’s net worth at around $500 million, ranking him first on its list of the top 50 creators in 2023. Elon Musk, who has encouraged video creators to post on his platform X (formerly Twitter), congratulated MrBeast. MrBeast revealed that he earned $250,000 from his first video posted on X, aligning with Musk’s strategy to make the platform profitable. Additionally, MrBeast’s new record is likely welcome news for Amazon, which has signed him to a TV deal reportedly worth up to $100 million.
