Chelsea and Manchester United are in discussions over potential transfers involving Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling. The possibility of Sancho moving to Chelsea while Sterling heads to United is under serious consideration.
Chelsea is expected to propose a player exchange, with Ben Chilwell and Sterling as the primary candidates. However, United has ruled out Chilwell’s inclusion due to their recent signing of Noussair Mazraoui, which has eased their left-back concerns. Chilwell, who served as Chelsea’s vice-captain last season, is training away from the first team and is not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans.
United’s Stance on Sancho and Sterling
If Sancho leaves, United does not feel the need to find a direct replacement, as they believe they have sufficient depth in their attacking options. However, any deal involving Sterling would need to make financial sense for United, given his substantial wages. Discussions are ongoing regarding various deal structures, including loans, loans with obligations, and permanent transfers.
Juventus is also in talks with United about a potential loan move for Sancho. The Serie A club is interested in a straightforward loan deal and is waiting for a response from both United and Sancho. Juventus is expected to propose a loan with a fee and a portion of Sancho’s wages covered by United.
Sterling’s Future and Premier League Interest
United is determined to negotiate on their terms, recognizing that Sterling is not in Chelsea’s first-team plans. Sancho has been reintegrated into United’s setup but has not been included in matchday squads. Sterling, excluded from first-team training and stripped of his squad number, is reportedly open to a move to either Chelsea or Juventus.
While United does not need to replace Sancho, the prospect of adding Sterling is appealing if the financial terms are favorable. Sterling, who has previously played for Liverpool and Manchester City, wants to stay in the Premier League if he leaves Chelsea before the transfer deadline on Friday. Crystal Palace is among the clubs interested in Sterling, who earns over £300,000 per week and has three years left on his Chelsea contract.
