Woods Plans to Compete in Three Majors in Next Three Months

Tiger Woods aims to participate in three major golf tournaments over the next three months, despite facing ongoing physical challenges following a serious car accident in 2021.

The 48-year-old golf legend’s right leg was severely injured in the accident, adding to a list of injuries and surgeries he has experienced in recent years. In a May 1 interview on NBC’s “Today” show, Woods expressed his hope to compete in one tournament per month for the remainder of the year.

After a lackluster performance at the Masters in April, where Woods finished last among the 60 golfers who made the cut, he is now preparing for the upcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla on May 16, followed by the US Open at Pinehurst in June, and the British Open at Royal Troon in Scotland in July.

If he can play in all three tournaments, it would mark the first time since 2019 that he has participated in all four major championships. His last major victory came at the 2019 Masters, and he hopes to win another to challenge the “15 Stripes” logo design—each stripe representing one of his major wins—on his new apparel line, Sun Day Red.

Woods follows a strict recovery routine, including daily cold plunges, to manage his sore body and increase his chances of success. He faces tough competition, especially from world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who recently won his second Masters title and his fourth victory of the season.

Woods admires Scheffler’s consistent performance and exceptional ball-striking abilities, acknowledging that the young golfer poses a significant challenge in the upcoming tournaments.
