Tyson Fury arrives in Saudi Arabia with a large entourage for his upcoming heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk. The WBC Heavyweight champion has landed in Saudi Arabia ahead of his highly anticipated bout with Usyk, scheduled for May 18 in the Middle East.
Fury, accompanied by his family, friends, and trainer SugarHill Steward, arrived in Riyadh on Saturday, May 4, looking excited as they posed for photos. After a seven-hour flight from the UK, the group was greeted with bouquets of flowers and hot drinks. Despite neither fighter having suffered a defeat in their careers, anticipation is high for what promises to be an epic showdown. Fury’s fight with Usyk was originally set for February 17 but was postponed due to an eye injury, giving Fury ample time to recover.
Additionally, plans for a rematch between Fury and Usyk in October have already been discussed, even though their initial meeting is yet to take place. The two heavyweight champions will finally meet in Saudi Arabia on May 18 to determine the division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
Boxing’s new ringmaster, Turki Alalshikh, has outlined a plan for potential further matchups between Fury and Usyk, suggesting a third fight could happen this year if each fighter wins one of the first two bouts. Fury has expressed his respect for Usyk as a formidable opponent, acknowledging Usyk’s achievements as an Olympic champion and undisputed cruiserweight champion.
