Diddy’s public image has taken a severe hit following the release of a video showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie. This controversy is now affecting his business ventures, with America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses halting the sale of his Sean John eyewear line. While the company confirmed this decision, they have not publicly provided a reason.
The retailer has removed Sean John glasses from their stores and online shop, leaving the future of these products uncertain. This move follows the removal of Diddy’s music from Peloton in response to the viral video. A post in Peloton’s private Facebook group called for the removal of his music, prompting the company to pause the use of his songs and discontinue the Bad Boy Entertainment Artist Series.
Peloton addressed the issue, stating, “We take this issue very seriously and have paused the use of Sean Combs’ music in any newly produced classes. Thank you for sharing your concerns.”
Diddy’s troubles extend beyond eyewear and fitness platforms. Billboard reported a significant decline in his radio spins after Cassie accused him of rape and abuse last year. As more allegations surfaced, his music’s airplay steadily dropped. Before the lawsuit on November 16, 2023, his songs had 11,000 plays, amounting to 23.3 million audience impressions. Following the lawsuit, his airtime dropped by 28%, with 8,000 spins.
The decline continued, with a 41% drop in broadcasts between November 24 and December 7, following additional sexual assault allegations. From March 15-28, his songs received only 1,000 plays and 4 million impressions, marking an 88% drop in radio spins and an 83% decrease in audience reach since mid-November.
Diddy’s reputation and business dealings continue to suffer as the fallout from these allegations persists.
