Taylor Swift continues to set new records with her music. On Friday, Spotify initially announced that “The Tortured Poets Department” had set a new record with 200 million streams in a single day. However, the platform later updated the total to over 300 million streams within the first 24 hours, making it the most-streamed album in Spotify’s history.
“History made!” the company tweeted. “On April 19, 2024, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department was the first album in Spotify history to have over 300M streams in a single day.”

The album’s lead single “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, also set a new record as Spotify’s most-streamed song in a single day, surpassing Adele’s “Easy on Me” from 2021.
Swift’s impressive streaming figures were boosted by her surprise announcement to release a 31-song deluxe digital edition of “The Tortured Poets Department,” adding 15 extra tracks just two hours after the album’s initial release.
Before the release of the new album, Swift already held records for the most streams in a single day with her previous albums, “Midnights” (2022) and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” (2023). Additionally, “Poets” became Spotify‘s most pre-saved album in history a day before its release.
