Super Falcons sensation, Asisat Oshoala, etched her name into the annals of her new club, BAY FC, in the NWSL as she scored a debut goal on Sunday.
Oshoala marked her presence in the National Women’s Soccer League by netting the club’s inaugural goal against Angel City, leading BAY FC to a 1-0 victory in their season opener.
Having transferred from Barcelona during the January window, the former Arsenal striker bid farewell to her five-year stint in Spain to embark on a fresh journey in the United States.
In a remarkable start to her tenure, Oshoala wasted no time in making an impact, securing the three points for BAY FC with a well-executed strike in the 17th minute.
Her debut also marked her entry as the ninth Nigerian player to grace the NWSL stage.
At 29 years old, Oshoala holds the prestigious title of reigning African Women’s Player of the Year, a distinction she has claimed for a record-breaking sixth time.
With her sights set on continued success, Oshoala aims to maintain her scoring prowess as BAY FC faces Washington Spirit at the Audi Field next Sunday.
