Reports indicate that Olympique de Marseille has decided to part ways with manager Gennaro Gattuso.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the French club has officially communicated the decision to Gattuso and his coaching staff today.
Gattuso took charge of Marseille in September 2023, succeeding Marcelino, who departed due to disagreements with the club’s leadership and supporters.
Although Marseille progressed through the Europa League group stages under Gattuso’s leadership, their recent form has been concerning. The team has won only one of their last nine matches across all competitions, securing a narrow 1-0 victory against US Thionville Lusitanos, a fifth-tier side.
The tipping point came last weekend when Marseille suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to ten-man Brest, conceding a late goal from Pierre Lees-Melou.
As Marseille seeks a fresh start, discussions are reportedly underway with Jean-Louis Gasset, who was recently relieved of his duties as the coach of Ivory Coast during the Africa Cup of Nations, to potentially fill the managerial position at the club.
