Nigerian superstar Burna Boy in a recent interview with Vincent Desmond for the Financial Times, has offered insight into the motivation behind the global outlook of his music.
Talking about his music, he said he has been able to showcase the rich and diverse sound of Africa by mixing elements that are relatable for the Gen Z, while saying that he feels proud that his career has encouraged more international collaborations after teaming up with international artistes like Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Dave, Busta Rhyme, Future, and 21 Savage.
The Grammy Award winner went on to reveal that he wants to use his music to show that African artistes can make meaningful and impactful albums that can resonate with a global audience while being relevant to his generation because he is on a mission to challenge the perception of what African music can be.
Just so you know, the self-proclaimed African Giant made history by becoming the first Nigerian lead artiste to be nominated outside of the global category and the first African artiste to perform at the main ceremony of the 66th Grammy awards where he earned four nominations.
