With his absence, the Nigerian team faces another setback after midfielder Wilfred Ndidi withdrew from the tournament due to a three-month muscle injury. The national team, eyeing its fourth title, is also awaiting the fitness assessment of Kelechi Iheanacho, who is dealing with an injury. The Syli Nationale of Guinea secured a 2-0 victory against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly match held at the Bani Yas Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Jose Peseiro, leading the team, started the game without star striker Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. The Nigerian side conceded a goal as early as the 14th minute and faced a second setback in the 64th minute when Guinea doubled their lead.
