Senegalese football sensation Sadio Mane has taken an intriguing new step in his off-field career by purchasing a significant ownership stake in the French fourth-tier football club, Bourges Foot 18. This strategic investment places Mane in the company of prominent football figures like David Beckham, Gary Neville, and Paul Scholes who have ventured into the football business.
Mane’s interest in buying a football club had been evident for some time, and his close association with Bourges Foot 18’s president, Cheikh Sylla, played a pivotal role in finalizing the deal. In the past, Mane had also provided financial support to the club, particularly to assist with player recruitment.
The official approval for Mane’s ownership involvement was granted by the mayor of the city, Yann Galut. After completing this significant acquisition, Mane expressed his enthusiasm through a video message, stating, “We’ve been working with the city for the past three years. We’re here to nurture and organize the club. The challenge is immense, but if the people of Bourges remain involved, I’m confident we can achieve our goals. I believe I’ll be visiting Bourges very soon.”
Sadio Mane’s journey to club ownership comes at a juncture in his career where he now plays for Al Nassr, having departed from Bayern Munich. Prior to his move to Saudi Pro League’s Al Nassr, Mane had a memorable spell with Liverpool, winning several major trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
