Burna Boy’s ‘Love Damini’ Strikes Gold in France and Continues to Shine Worldwide

Burna Boy’s album, ‘Love Damini,’ has achieved gold certification in France, as confirmed by the Syndicat National de L’Edition Phonographique (SNEP). This marks the sixth studio album’s success since its release in July 2022.

‘Love Damini’ boasts an impressive list of certifications, including gold status in Canada, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Sweden, and New Zealand, along with a silver certification in the United Kingdom. This remarkable achievement solidifies the album’s widespread appeal.


Released through Atlantic Records, ‘Love Damini’ comprises 19 tracks and features collaborations with renowned global artists such as J Hus, Victony, Popcaan, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, and Khalid. SNEP reports that the album has reached 50,000 equivalent sales. Notably, the song “Last Last” from this album became an unofficial anthem of the summer in 2022, amassing over 256 million streams. Another track, “For Your Hand,” featuring British songwriter Ed Sheeran, has garnered over 161 million streams on Spotify.

“Last Last” received a nomination for Best Global Music Performance at the 64th Grammy Awards, while the ‘Love Damini’ album itself secured a nomination for Best Global Music Album in 2022, although both categories were ultimately won by Masa Takumi and Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode.

Burna Boy continues to shine on the global stage, as he has earned a nomination in the Best Afrobeats category at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards. He faces stiff competition from other Nigerian superstars, including Asake, Davido, Ayra Starr, Aya Nakamura, and Rema. In addition to this nomination, Burna Boy is also in the running for the Best African Category and Best Live Performance. The 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards are set to take place on November 5, 2023.
