Victor Osimhen’s representative is considering legal action against Napoli following a controversial incident involving the player on social media.
Roberto Calenda, the agent of Napoli’s striker, Victor Osimhen, has raised the possibility of taking legal action against the club. This development stems from a now-deleted video posted on Napoli’s official TikTok account that appeared to mock Osimhen.
The video in question emerged after Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli securing their first league title in 30 years. Despite his remarkable contributions, the player found himself targeted by a peculiar video posted by the Serie A club on TikTok.
In light of this, Osimhen and his management team are demanding an apology from the Italian champions and a clear disavowal of the controversial social media post.
Agent Roberto Calenda expressed his concerns about the situation on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He stated, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted. A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news. We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
Shortly after Calenda’s statement, Osimhen removed nearly all Napoli-related photos from his Instagram account, including images from last season’s Scudetto celebrations. Additionally, he temporarily unfollowed Napoli on Instagram before subsequently re-following the club.
The contentious social media post featured a clip of Osimhen’s penalty miss during a recent match against Bologna, with an unusual, high-pitched voice dubbed over the footage. This incident occurred in the context of apparent tensions between Osimhen and Napoli manager Rudi Garcia, who exchanged words during the game.
Despite Osimhen’s impressive performances garnering interest from clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea during the summer transfer window, he did not extend his contract with Napoli. His current contract with the club is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
The penalty miss during the Bologna match, which resulted in a goalless draw, disappointed Napoli fans who had wagered on the champions securing a victory. In the TikTok video, Osimhen was portrayed as requesting a penalty only to miss it, and he was referred to as ‘pessi,’ a social media term likening him to Messi whenever he misses a penalty.
Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, is exploring the possibility of legal action against Napoli due to a controversial video mocking the player on the club’s TikTok account. Calenda expressed his concerns about the video’s impact on Osimhen’s reputation and indicated a readiness to take legal measures to protect the player’s interests. The incident follows a period of tension between Osimhen and Napoli’s manager and comes in the wake of Osimhen’s decision not to sign a contract extension with the club.
