Still on the controversy surrounding the Nigerian film, Gangs of Lagos, Amazon Web Services Nigeria, a subsidiary of Amazon Inc. and founder of Prime Video Nigeria, has claimed that its film, Gangs of Lagos is not injurious to anyone.
If you would recall, following the release of the film on the streaming platform, Prime Video, the Lagos State Government through its commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf described the movie as cultural misrepresentation. stating that the commission being the custodian of culture and the regulatory body of Lagos State viewed the film as a mockery of Lagos heritage.
In the same vein, the Lagos indigenes under the Isale Eko Descendants Union, IDU, moved to take legal action over the project.
In the lawsuit filed before a Lagos High Court the union demanded ten billion Naira damages against Amazon and other Gangs of Lagos producers which includes, Jadesola Osiberu, Kemi Lala-Akindoju, Adesegun Adetoro, Demi Olubanwo, Olumide Soyombo, Bankole Wellington, and others.
