Oha Soup, popularly referred to as Ofe Oha originates from Nigeria’s eastern. The Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria and it is a delicious traditional soup recipe.
The Oha leaves are seasonal. Traditionally, the leaves are shredded by hand and not with a knife or any other sharp object.
The people of Anambra prepare their Oha soup with Akwu (raw palm kernel oil) while the people of Imo state use Palm oil.
Ingredients
- Smoked fish
- Stock Fish
- Periwinkle (Optional)
- Ground crayfish
- Ponmo
- Palm oil
- Onions
- Cocoyam or Achi ( Soup Thickeners)
- Oha leaves (cut using a knife or shredding with your fingers)
- Uziza leaves (chopped)
- Seasonings
- Salt
- Water/Stock
- Pepper
