Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu has been found dead after being missing for days in Turkey’s earthquake.
Christian Atsu was staying in an apartment in Hatay city which was also badly affected following the earthquake.
Initially, it was reported that the footballer had been found but that changed after his agent confirmed he wasn’t the one.
The news of his death was confirmed by his agent, Nana Sechere who broke the devastating news on Twitter.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have
to announce to all well-wishers that sadly
Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this
morning.”
The 31 years old footballer, played 107 games for Newcastle and had spells with Chelsea, Everton and Bournemouth.
Atsu scored the winning goal in the 90th minute of Hatayspor’s super league last match against Kasimpasa on Sunday before the earthquake on Monday, February 6.
